NO-A

IN HIS DESPERATE ATTEMPT TO SAVE THE WOMAN WHO CREATED HIM, NO-A MUST FACE AN UNKNOWN ENEMY FORCE AND FIGHT TO KEEP THEM BOTH ALIVE.
The world is a desolate, unforgiving place in this action sci-fi with a surprising amount of heart. No-A is a CGI heavy short film built around a strong ape-like robotic main character, who charms us instantly with his evident emotions. Watching No-A feels like a futuristic post-apocalyptic & cybernetic version of King Kong, with its combination of giant apes, trans-species emotional attachments and the sadly heroic endings.

NO-A was my senior film while studying animation at the Savannah College of Art and Design. I created it with about 50 other artists from around the world. Thanks to a successful kickstarter, we were able to really push the envelope in quality. The ambition was to create the highest quality CG animated film we could and for me personally, to hopefully use it as a launching point for my animation/directing career. Production of the film took around 20 weeks, but we were working on the concept for much longer in our spare time. It wasn’t until our final year that we could dedicated our full attention to it.

No-A’s captivating features are of course the incredible CGI work, but it also draws great attention from its immaculate physics representation. No-A is just a surface scratch of certainly something that can be much bigger – we see great potential in for an original storyline to build to this scene.
